Halo
What Is Halo?
The Halo is a hybrid treatment combining both ablative and non-ablative laser technologies such as the BBL™ (Broad Band Light) and Profractional XC™, delivering wavelengths to the same treatment zone. This powerful duo is the ultimate anti-aging and age correction treatment targeting skin tone, texture and skin elasticity without an excessive healing period.
What are the differences between ablative and non-ablative?
Ablative laser treatments:
This treatment destroys or breaks down tissue by burning and creating small micro-channels vertically into the skin. The skin usually requires a recovery period following this treatment.
Non-ablative laser treatments:
This treatment is able to target and treat concerns usually by incorporating a light based device without destroying tissue or breaking the skin. This makes the recovery period following treatment faster.
How is the Halo treatment performed?
Halo is often split into two treatment sessions and can be done 2-3 days apart to allow the skin sufficient time to heal in between. It is often recommend to do your initial treatment earlier on in the week and to complete the treatment process towards the end of the week to have sufficient time for healing.
A topical numbing cream is usually applied 30 minutes prior to your treatment to ensure that you are completely comfortable during the procedure. The treatment itself can take between 20-30 minutes, therefore allow yourself 1hour per treatment half.
The BBL™ is often the recommended starting treatment to improve skin discolouration and uneven skin tone. 2-3 days later, the Profractional XC™ procedure can be performed in the same manner as the BBL™. This treatment is however slightly more invasive and will require 3-5 days of healing, making it ideal to do on a Friday where you can allow for skin recovery over the weekend.
What should I expect after my Halo treatment?
The skin does heal relatively quickly after the Halo treatment but you can often experience the following side effects immediately following your treatment and 2-3 days post such as:
-Blood spotting on the surface of the skin
-Pigmented lesions darken and form a ‘coffee granule’ like effect on the skin
-Dry and ‘sand paper’ like skin texture
-Slight skin redness
-Puffiness/swelling under the eye area
A post recovery balm is recommended to reduce inflammation, redness and improve skin healing.
The Ideal Halo Candidate
We always conduct a thorough consultation prior to treatment to ensure that Halo is the suitable treatment choice to match your skins concerns. Halo is a safe and effective treatment suitable for most skin types and skin concerns on the face and body, such as:
-Pigmented lesions
-Scar revision
-Fine lines and wrinkles
-Pre-mature signs of ageing
-Irregular texture
-Improve appearance of enlarged pores
-Sun Damage
What Areas Can Be Treated With Halo?
Halo can be done on a number of different treatment areas. The popular treatments areas will include:
-Face
-Neck
-Chest
-Arms
-Legs
-Back
The face usually recovers the fastest after treatment and larger ‘off face’ areas can take slightly longer to recover, making it the ideal body treatment to do in the winter months.
How often can the Halo treatment be done?
Halo can be done as a stand-alone treatment or can form part of an existing treatment plan. The treatments are often recommended to be done 3-4 weeks apart as part of a course or to be done every 3-4 months to maintain your post treatment course results.
