Laser Facelift

How do we age?

Gravity has a major effect on how our skins age. Regular muscle movements will cause wrinkles in the long run e.g. crow’s feet and frown lines. Then, the skin on its own contributes in a great deal to the ageing process, especially when it appears old and wrinkled. Not even excellent surgery will be able to improve the actual skin quality, as the skin will still appear older keeping in mind pigmentation, lesions and very deep wrinkles.

So… who should consider the Laser Facelift?

Using CO2 Laser Resurfacing Techonology, the Laser Facelift treats aging skin wonderfully and effectively. Of course there are procedures available for every degree of ageing, at Dermology. CO2 Laser Resurfacing can be set exactly to the need of the skin, in terms of depth, heat and downtime. Procedures like chemical peels, micro needling and BBL Forever YoungTMare great options as well, however, the Laser Facelift is considered to be the Rolls Royce of all Facial Rejuvenation Lasers.

You should consider Facial Rejuvenation if your skin has experienced and shows signs of environmental changes such as wind, dryness, or the sun. What do they look like? You will notice dark spots, sun spots, veins, wrinkles and fine lines. Wrinkles can appear anywhere on the face, however we see it more often around the eyes and mouth.

So many different Lasers?

Yes, there are many different laser that can be done on your skin. Please see below descriptions to understand the terms better:

There are 3 approaches:

•CO2 and Erbium Laser Resurfacing (Ablative): A full ablative CO2 resurfacing treatment considered to be the Rolls Royce of all the antiaging treatments. Healing time is longer but the results speak for themselves
Ablative Fractional Resurfacing: This procedure is done with the ProfractionalXCtmCO2 laser. This is approach will aim for 30 – 50 % improvement after doing a course of 5 sessions. Topical numbing cream is needed in most cases. This is the most popular treatment due to its relatively short healing time and comparatively great results.

•Non-Ablative Fractional Resurfacing: This procedure is done with the MOXI Laser. This procedure is rejuvenating .Due to only superficial wounds caused on the skin, downtime is much shorter. You are looking at a slight improvement of wrinkles after doing a course of 5 sessions.

What results can I expect with the different procedures?

-Final results can still be seen 6 months post procedure, as collagen stimulation and remodelling takes place long after the last procedure was done.

Contra-Indications?

-Intense Electrolysis in the area to be treated
e.g. the upper lip. When the hair follicles have been destroyed completely, it will influence the healing process after resurfacing. Hair follicles play a key role in wound healing with complete laser ablative resurfacing.

- Accutane in the last year
When we use accutane, it deactivates our sebaceous (oil) glands, and this interferes greatly with wound healing. Accutane use should be discontinued and oil must be detected on the skin before the resurfacing procedure can take place.

-Autoimmune diseases (Lupus, Scleroderma)
These diseases have inherent effects on wound healing.

It is very important to understand that Fractional non ablative resurfacing can be used on all of these categories mentioned above. Each patient must be monitored separately.

WHICH ONE??

This purely depends on RESULTS vs DOWNTIME. It’s the patient who needs to decide their priorities when considering how much improvement they desire.

Best Result with no matter what downtime? Then CO2or Erbium/Laser Facelift will be the best option.
Lowest possible problems or recovery? Then ProfractionalXCTM will be your answer.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES and INDICATIONS?
Laser Resurfacing is not only great for Dark Marks and Deep Wrinkles. It will also benefit the following:
-Acne Scarring
Fractional is the state of the art for the treatment of acne scarring.
-Off Face Treatments
“off face areas” have less blood supply, and therefore heal very slowly. ProfractionalXCTM work better in these areas. The untreated skin in the fractional approach helps to heal the treated areas.
-There are many different types of Erbium lasers. At Dermology we use the Sciton Profile System. This system has proven over and over that it delivers the results our patients are after.
