How to Combat Rough Texture
Daily cleanse – A good quality, professional, pH balanced face cleanser is always the best to use. Reducing excess oil and debris found on the skin will make the skin look and feel better. There are many different types of cleansers available, each suited to a specific skin type. Cleansing should be done twice daily, in the morning and before bedtime to remove all debris, excess oil and dead skin, pollution, sweat etc from the skin which will contribute to an unhealthy skin.
Exfoliate – usually daily cleansing is not enough to improve skin texture and overall health. Exfoliation is vital as it assists in removing excess skin, oil and dirt making it less prone to roughness and breakouts and improving skin complexion and brightness. Forms of exfoliation include:
• Facial scrubs
• Facial brush
• Active ingredients such as Retinol – only given through the advice of your skin therapist
• Superficial chemical peels
• Laser peel/ resurfacing
• Profractional XC ™
• Forever Young BBL™
Moisturize – It is very important to use the correct type of moisturiser for your skin type. Moisturisers are usually classified as water-to-oil moisturisers which are rich or thicker in consistency and designed for dry or mature skin types and oil-to-water moisturisers are thinner in consistency and light on the skin designed for combination or oily skin types. Unfortunately these terms are not found on the packaging of products therefore it is best to visit your skin therapist for product recommendations. Furthermore, it is crucial to protect your skin from ultra violet exposure such as sunlight and florescent lights by wearing an appropriate sunscreen or moisturizer containing an SPF 15+.
